Tracy’s first degree was a BSc in Applied Science followed by a PhD focussed on the application of nonlinear optics to phased array antennas; both at Cranfield University. Several years working as a postdoctoral researcher followed, primarily working on the deposition of smart coatings. Since joining EPSRC in 2005 Tracy has undertaken a range of roles, including fellowship scheme-owner, engineering portfolio manager, and leading the strategic equipment process. Tracy moved to the Manufacturing the Future Theme in July 2015 to lead on the Materials Manufacturing portfolio. Among the other critical mass EPSRC investments she looks after is the COATED2 CDT at Swansea, which is part of the Materials and Manufacturing Academy and closely aligned to SPECIFIC.
